The Joyce Birch Collection of Story-Related Books

Sponsored by the Manitoba Storytelling Guild

Joyce Birch was a professional teacher-librarian at Lord Roberts School for many years, and in 1990 was recognized as the National Teacher-Librarian of the Year. She was a founding member of Stone Soup Stories, and was very deeply engaged in telling stories to both children and adults, as her collection reveals. The 200+ books on this list were gathered by Kay Stone and Mary Louise Chown after Joyce died in 2007. There have been other contributors since then, notably Norman Perrin Toronto in 2010, but Joyce’s books still form the backbone of the collection. These books are especially intended for use by members of the Storytelling Guild. Others may use the collection with the permission of CRYTC by consulting with Larissa Wodtke. ALL users MUST follow the guidelines below. Please read carefully.

  1. CALL LARISSA (786-9185) TO GET PERMISSION TO USE THE COLLECTION.

  4. SIGN THE “USAGE” BOOK ON SHELF 3 ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CABINET.
